A fantastically crafted, throughly engaging fantasy that will leave you wanting more! This is a wonderful story with fantastic characters that draw you in only to bury you within the pages of the story. Throughly enjoyed and highly recommended!
I have been a fan of Janet Morris since Tempus and the Stepsons were first introduced in the Thieve's World series. Janet continues to set the bar for the genre. If you are a fantasy fan, this is everything you would expect from the author who set the gold standard, and it is time well spent.
Tempus, Sacred Band of Stepsons, is an artful masterpiece written by one of my favorite authors Janet Morris.

She is the master of telling fantasy stories complete with intricate world building and detailed character development.

After reading this treasure I can say without reservation, each of the tales in this volume are excellent. The plots are compelling, the writing is amazing, and the characters are fully fleshed out. If you're a fan of fantasy with elements of history, you'll love these books.
The writing struck me as quite poor. It consisted of much “telling,” not “showing.” What was being told was vague, as if aspiring for some sort of pretentious abstraction but not quite getting there. I regretted purchasing this book.
Weird title, I know, but it conveys exactly what you get. Tempus, Niko and all the "usual suspects" of Sacred Banders. I wanna party with them!
